  2. Pressila says:

Add Vidya Concepts, LLC to this list of pyramid schemed marketing firms along with their “licensure” Immerge Consultants.

  3. Cardiffchick says:

Just want to flag up Covermore Events in Cardiff – this is an offshoot of Brand Me Marketing with whom I’ve had experience (sadly). Avoid avoid avoid – same address, same deluded people, virtually same website…..

  4. PC says:

Just want to flag Island Consultants in Rhode Island. Same deal; I was able to spot the signs early since I’d unfortunately interviewed with one of these places before. Sparse office with a Bluetooth speaker playing music in the waiting room. Multiple “managers.” Two-step interview process, the first being 15 minutes. Direct marketing. Vague website and almost no other information online. Confusing, misleading job description.

  5. kekeen says:

It’s obvious this useless fool switchb oth names to deceive people. Beware. Thanks for this site , not going for this interview with altitude acquisition no more

  6. Scott says:

Where’s XL Marketing on the list? One of the biggest in Australia on the Gold coast and Kinetic group international in Brisbane also global in Perth and etc…….do not go!!!!!!!!!
I was roped into it and wasted years of my life..when I could have been travelling Australia and doing what I actually wanted to do. Instead got brain washed into working 12 hour days walking in the tropical storm rains and 40 degree hot humid weather! And if anyone complaint you got the same quote “neg” short for negative (not smart and not safe) you work self employed because they don’t want to pay your tax and if your “shit” at sales why should they pay you?? So sad when they got in 18 year olds just fresh out of school and brain washed them through basically through four whole days of “appointments” (not allowed to say interview by the way or they could be sued for treating you like an employee) and have to go to two eight hours days of orientation before you go out on the field and if your leader comes back and says they suck, they will let you go in a heartbeat. After saying they will put in tons of effort to help you succeed! there’s a whole week wasted of that person finding an actual job.
Even the boss owner of company isn’t the owner!! The corporation is.. Some guy started the company in the eighties and it has grown all around the world! Can’t believe ppl still fall for it. guess I did so there you go! The owner can have it all taken away at any time as well! He can’t sale the “company” one day. He has to just retire and live on what he saved.
If you sign up one person on a charity donation. Let’s say 39 dollars a month. The charity doesn’t get a dime till at least a year of them donationing. 90 bucks goes to the poor self employee and 200 bucks to the owner.
Better for someone else to donate directly to the charity.
In the long run yes the charity makes more money but at what cost? Pissed off customers, people at home and people at work and, young ppl who can go to school or actually find a career!
They do it all wrong. If they were 100% honest and paid something of a wage and sold it as a place to meet people and a place you can learn skills from. A face to face sales going out to random people and trying to sign them up. But they are cheap and have to go about it another way which is lying that it’s marketing role and looking for ppl to move up in management and live the dream!! By law in ads they have to put somewhere that it’s commission, so if you read one it’s usually thrown in where you probably wouldnt really see near the end. They look in different sections to place ads where on types of ppl they want in. Hospitality for backpackers and young, administration section for girls and sports and trades for men.
Oh and a tip you can sue these companies for a salary if you feel they treated like an employee. So if they tell you what days to come in and what time to come in and get mad at you if your late, that is treating you like an employee. If they say promotion, that is treating you like an employee. If they get you to help around the office hang thing clean up help run meeting if you don’t want to, again Employee!
So keep a journal for how many times they say those words and hours you were made to come in. Self employed you shouldn’t have to go in for “training” you should be able to go out on the field and sale. Also what days as well.
Just stay away you will most likely not be good at cold calling on people and hate it and if your good at it you will have a hard hard hard time ever finding people to join your “team” that like it and are good at it. They will put a carrot right in front of your face to keep you. Oh and if you don’t do well it’s your fault because you must have been negative.
Hope i have helped! It is good to meet backpackers but you can do it another way….they only care about themselves making money and will try to make you feel important to keep you. Once someone better along you will be pushed out.
It is a evil place, if it’s about helping charities then it should be about that but it’s about making millions off it. Wrong on so many levels.

  7. Scott says:

Oh by the way I was being trained to be an owner so was trained in all aspects, I didn’t get to it fast enough so basically was pushed aside.

Exsell 7/Phoenix Acquisitions Southampton. I went for an interview last year with Exsell and just got dragged round a council estate all day. Got an email from Phoenix Acquisitions last week, googled them – same company, same building! avoid avoid avoid

    • CreepedOut says:

You’re entirely right, had my assessment day today – clearly all lies and bull crap, it’s a pyramid scheme point blank. It’s so cultish it has actually freaked me out. However, I have to say, I know one if the people you named & shamed and have done for a few years and I genuinely think they don’t like realise… I think they actually did work up. However I assume the main 3 are evil & knew exactly what they were doing when they ‘set up this organic company from the ground’.

  11. PLEASE anyboddy who has time write a poor review for Manchester Active. These wankers are the Worst I have ever come across. Preying on young and vulnerable people and filling their heads full of Managing Directorship pipe dreams when i reality they don’t even get paid a basic wage and…..wait for it…….everybody is self-employed. Ooooooo you gotta love that. Please join the fight at: https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Overview/Working-at-Manchester-Active-EI_IE1033769.11,28.htm

    Named and Shamed:

Huw Devonaauld – MD at Manchester Active
Naomi Lewis – Spin Doctor and Compulsive Liar at Manchester Active
Giles Baudet – Self Made millionaire off othr people at Glasgow Interactive
Ross Macleod – The newest Managing Campaign Lead Generator
    Shakira Flores-Heatley – Head Recruiter

Asscoaited Companies: Blthyswood events, A4 Interactive, Actell Interactive, Glasgow Interactive, Newcastle Interactive, London Interactive, Signature Spaces, The Interactive Team, The list goes on laddies and gentlemen.

    • CreepedOut says:

Also my ‘trainer’ let slip that the MD Huw lives on the Hilton! So while over 40 clearly very impressionable young people are working 10 hours a day for £4 an hour he lives a life of luxury? Think that fact was meant to impress me….

  12. Lauren says:

I’m so glad I found this article! A couple of years a go I went for an interview with one of these companies, I can’t remember the name but let’s face it they’ve probably already changed that!
I was naïve I didn’t sense anything was up and went for the interview! In my interview was the manager and some other kid who just sat on the sofa and watched (creepy as hell) the information was limited and he kept going on about blue chip companies, I’d never heard of this as I said I was naïve, thankfully my dad sensed it was fishy when I told him everything and I never looked back!

However you’d think I’d learnt, nope!
I applied for a Graduate Trainee Events Manager role with MJ Experia Marketing, now I realise even the title seems a bit forced!
I applied yesterday and got a phone call today, after accepting the interview I thought it seemed a bit fishy, so started to do some research, their website is shoddy for one! And I could only find ‘good’ reviews, by people who are brainwashed!
Then I found this and it confirmed my suspicions, safe to say I will not be attending the interview!

For the people who say it isn’t a scam, you are deluded, it is a scam because nowhere do they state this will be a door-to-door job, they lie about the earnings and sucker people on with the titles of the job! Just be honest and say this is a commission based job, where you will be interacting with the public either door-to-door or within shops, selling items! But no they make it sound like an office job and it just makes me so angry! Because I feel so stupid for falling for it again, that’s the last time though as I’ll be researching jobs before foolishly applying!

  13. CreepedOut says:

Want to add Gray’s Industries, On-Point Marketing and Glowing Global in the UK. Also seems to be a new one setting up called Pi

  14. Lucy says:

Add Phoenix Premier Acquisitions and Bravington Capital, both in Southampton. Avoid at all costs!!!! Job adverts are for customer services, event marketing etc. In reality, you are sucked into being self employed on a commission only basis. Working at least 10 hours a day, 6 days a week for less than the minimum wage. Compulsory to work away with no expenses paid and standing ALL day in shopping centres being a chugger (charity mugger). Slave labour!!!!

  15. I was asked for a interview with envision retail services and he would not offer any actual details as to what they actually sell or do. Lobby is suspicious as well. Guy sitting behind him in a hoodie and they wanted you to dress professional. Looking for suckers. Very odd.

  16. Natalie says:

I worked in one of the offices. Quick progression into management, commission based, long hours. All of which are correct. Each manager worked from the bottom so all of which either went door to door or to shopping centres. I worked my way up into management and made great money. Yes the process of developing a manager is cut throat but they do produce managers. Majority of these companies are not scams and people who do not exceed blame the company. There are many people who make £709-£800 a week in these places, because they put work in. I’m pretty sure these people on this thread wouldn’t be complaining if they were making that kind of money. The company I worked in and got to assistant management is actually on this list and I’m quite appalled somebody would call the company a scam.

  17. Liarliarpantsonfire says:

Just in case anyone reads ‘Natalie’s’ comments and believes that tripe. I know for a fact that these owners and their minions actually trawl these websites writing positive comments as part of their campaign to hoodwink new recruits into thinking that they could be ‘the special one’. It’s all fantasy. fact.

    • Natalie says:

Your lack of education towards business is worrying. If you could explain to me why big brands such as ADT, talk talk, sky would bother working with these “scam” companies if they are so dodgy we can have this conversation. Please go back to your hourly rate job and come back when you’re slightly less stupid.

      • Jack says:

Sky, ADT, talk talk desperate to get any individual signed up into their contracts.
once done bingo monthly guaranteed direct debit money going out of every sign ups bank account
and consumers locked in for x among of time or face penalties to cancel/ get out
That is why they use self employed sales individuals or should I say
        con artists and
deceiving liars who have already sold their own soul.

  18. Sam says:

ALTITUDE AQUISITIONS. I went for the interview and if i knew about this site before I attended the interview I would have embarrased the guy so much because of how proffessional he tried to make it seem. And probably slapped him for thinking I was so foolish. How do these fake companies get away with it?!!?!???!?!!??

  19. hannah says:

hi there, i just need some advice, i started working for this company and the hours are around 70 a week. im starting to feel quite ill and run down from it but i don’t want to quit as i haven’t earnt any money yet. i was wondering if it was a scam the reason being that its door to door sales/commission only with the promise of moving up in the company very quickly however there are lots of people that work there so how can it be?

    • es says:

      Hannah,

If it’s making you feel ill, you should quit. They’ll try everything to keep you on, ya know, besides actually paying you, but it’s not worth it if your health is suffering. They’ll also refer to anyone who quits as “losers”, but you’ve probably noticed that already.
There are other, better sales jobs if you’re into sales. There are also better jobs period. The grocery store is a better job. McDonalds is even a better job, and ironically enough at my Cydcor office they would always say “you’re better off working at McDonalds” if you can’t make the sales, but in a way to make you think McDonalds was the worst place in the world to work. Home Fundraising, whom I worked for before working Cydcor, was a better job. It was still hard sales, but the companies weren’t changing names and locations every 6 months, we got paid appropriately for our work (and yes, being out all evening is work regardless of whether or not you sell), and they didn’t hide the fact that most of them were just young people needing to work behind a bunch of business jargon.
I signed on with a temp agency shortly after quitting Cydcor for health reasons, and am doing so much better now. It’s another one of those jobs where you really have to show initiative to get good reviews, but if you do your agency will keep you very busy after. I work regular office hours usually (unless my agency wants me to work a convention or trade show, but those are always fun so I always say yes), don’t have to walk around strange towns in dress shoes trying to sell products that people are getting a better price for elsewhere, and since I get paid for every hour I work, I’m making more money now than the poor indoctrinated guys who worked with me and trained me in Cydcor.
tl;dr Your health has to come first, and you can do better anyway.

      xx,
      es

  21. Sorry Hannah, it’s definitely a scam. Same address is down for Altitude Acquisitions and Ventas Central. Both of which are on here. I never did any work for AA, so never got as far as payment. Really don’t know if you will get it. Judging by the comments others have made, I don’t think you’re likely to get a penny.

I wouldn’t want to tell you to leave, as it’s your life, but those company names are here for good reason. Good luck.

  22. hannah says:

i mean, if its a scam how are all the other people managing to sustain it. i mean theres quite a few people who work there and they all seem nice enough. is it ppossible tht they would only be scamming certain people? im not sure how it works:(

  23. kimboslice94 says:

Hi Hannah. It’s not a scam in what your thinking. How they do it is make you work for companies for pennies. The amount of hours your working you’ll prob see like £200. But remember other weeks you’ll work the same amount of hours and earn nothing.

Oh and please don’t forget the cancellations. That’s a good way to not pay you!!

They will tell you the client cancelled so you don’t get paid!

  24. hannah says:

Ok, so you think i should cut my losses and find something else? its such a shame as i felt like i was learning a lot and i got on with people there and i had been looking for a job for such a long time. but the hours are unbearable and i need to make enough money to eat!

  25. hannah says:

Why doesn’t the company get in trouble with the police or something if they are doing this to people. is there some loophole in the self employment part of the contract?

  26. hannah says:

I see so basically this company Pantheon is part of this? its really awful. there are loads of people “working” there 😦

    • Tim says:

one of the biggest reasons of all that they can’t get done
      is that
they make people sign self employed contracts
self employed sales people are then not employees but sub- contractors and responsible for themselves
it’s only years down the line of you don’t has the right information re self employment etc
that these people realise the pickle they are in , I’m more ways than one an face the consequences

  27. Thomas says:

there are always ways of making money ?!

    nobody thinks otherwise
but you can be and shouldn’t be forced in to self employment without your own knowledge eg signing things yor not completely aware of ( yes that’s tour own responsibility)
if you do not know the actually ins as outs of business when to be self employed personal or when to set up a limited company , accountants , self assessment , over- heads , deductible expenses, contractors , public liability , employee laws , etc etc
effects on eg maternity , illness , no work benefits etc

it’s best to learn all of these thing prior
not once you have the rope round your neck

    https://www.gov.uk/employment-status/selfemployed-contractor

  28. Bert says:

We have the same problem here in Australia. Much the same as has been posted here. Everything’s vague on their websites. Only commission..blah blah blah..
I don’t know if I can add some to your list if they’re related to but i think they’re more or less related to APPCO (i think) or some subsidiary of it..it’s all very vague….:

    – Trew Marketing (http://trewsports.com.au/)
    – Be Interactive (http://www.beinteractivepty.com/)
    – Hunter Bailey (http://www.hunterbailey.com.au/)

I didn’t know about these scammers, until Hunter Bailey called me and I went along with it. Did the interview, got the call back and the next day I did an observation. In a group of 5 we went out to an industrial estate and tried selling some raffle tickets to businesses. I was only observing “How it was done”..long story short..they sold $300 worth between 4 – split means $75 and only %30 of that was your commission which is $22.5 in 9 HOURS of work. Taking into consideration we had to buy lunch (5-10$) and we had to catch public transport to the office first thing in the morning and after work, basically means you’re working for nothing. Now I know some people might make more money on some given days but it was appalling to see a bunch of suckers in 30 degree heat walking around an industrial area for nothing.

  29. Please also add Gumball Promotions, Sheffield under “MD” Callum Joshua Boyle, to this list.

I was interviewing for a “marketing assistent” with him today. He knew nothing about marketing, nor current leading writers and developing techniques in marketing. He also played with his phone during the interview which led to me interviewing him and then I found myself teaching him about sales and marketing techniques and strategies. He was clearly ignorant of any actual experienxe I had or transferable skills from being a business owner, a master level qualified teacher, a workplace trainer and assessor and a client training and incentive designer. Roles which are highly desired in sales centres. He essentialy invited me to interview for a job that doesn’t exist in a subject area he had no knowledge of (marketing) and wasn’t interested in the knowledge I had of marketing either. After pointing this out he explained everyone starts in an entry level face to face sales role. Why interview for a marketing strategy assistant of you didn’t want somebody experienced in marketing, online marketing, social media marketing, maximising sales and sales training? Quite obviously all you want are basic level entry face to face sales jobs. The recruitment process is dishonest, your pop up company is a pyramid scheme and the “city skyline” and “buzz word” images om your pop up office give this away. Not to mention a smug-faced 20 year old MD. Why would anyone care to take such a giant step backwards in their career. After explaining that in no way would I like to take a giant step backwards in my career at this stage, I thanked him for his waste of my time.

I really wanted to reprimand him over the rudeness of the interviewer and MD to be playing with his phone during the interview. I had paid to travel to and took the time to attend that interview so I do expect a little professionalism and respect from the so called head of the company! Alas no. This is the attention paid to potential employees. So imagine the level of attention they pay to clients, client brand values or sales attitudes. I asked about this early on in my interview and was told nothing on how they train to represent the client. I was being interviewed for a marketing assistant to build client brand values. This would be done by training a sales work force to be brand assimilated and give the same service as an in house agent when working for an outsourced company. Yet the MD has no idea on if they do that already, want to do that, or have any training in place. How can you be the head of a company that promotes the brands of your client to increase sales without any idea of their core values or training? Without any idea of sales and marketing strategies, without any employee training to attune them to the customer.
    Essentially sir… you cannot.

Shocking waste of time and a scam of a front business. Clients and job hunters beware!

Funny seeing Chicago Business Strategies on here too, as IIRC it was another name on the door at Red Bay that we were never told anything about. Not the first time the owner has changed names though. There’s an entirely different one on my W2 from them. Shady af.

Alba International is very misleading. It is advertised as a great entry level role for marketing students.

I applied on Monday night, got a call next morning that they are impressed by my CV.

They tell you to bring a copy of your CV to confuse you. Before I went in to the office I noticed a copy of my CV. The manager was picking out details to make it seem like a legitimate interview.

Went home and got a call that he was really impressed and wanted me to come for an observance day tomorrow.

At this point I was 100% certain it was a scam and was backed up by this blog. They just work on a pyramid scheme where all the money remains at the top. I declined to go in for observance. “Wear comfortable shoes” Nah I’d rather not be scammed.

    Thanks

West Coast Concepts in Torrance, CA. Easy to get first interview, said second interview would involve an all-day shadowing. Run by a 25 year old who worked for So Cal Group (owned by Cydcor).

Went for interview with Covermore events in Cardiff . Girl that interviewed me told me all the same stuff , that I could progress and money etc . Nothing about the job itself . Was very weird interview . I was given a 2nd interview , for this I was paired up with an other girl from there we made our way to a table on the street in Cardiff . I was so embarrassed to be stood there ! The girl interviewing me seemed far more nervous than me and quickly made it clear she has no idea what she was talking about . Everything became very suspicious . After she explained it was all commission and I hadn’t see her do any sales that was the final straw . Dishonest and crappy company . Stay away

  35. Anyone know is Global Syndicate in Perth, Australia is like this? I have a second interview with them tomorrow. Although some of their signs can’t be found on what I’ve been reading, but they did contact me sooner than I expected. However, I was the only one for interview today compared to the full room that’s been mentioned lots of times. They were also very kind and told me not to bring a copy of my resume anymore since they already have it.. Maybe they’re trying to be careful not to scare me in case I read something like this.
